Welcome to the team!

As a 100% volunteer based pack, we need the support of parents and other caring adults to make our program the success that it is!

All of our leaders go through a registration process to ensure we are providing our Scouts with a safe and supportive Scouting experience.  This registration process applies to all Den Leaders, Cubmaster/Asst. Cubmasters, Committee Chair and Committee Members, as well as any Adult who will be attending Summer Camp.  The BSA operates under a principal called the Guide to Safe Scouting which provides the rules and guidance to ensure children are safe.

In order to ensure this safe environment, the Boy Scouts of America, the Minsi Trails Council, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Pack 588 require all registered leaders to go through a comprehensive background check and registration process.  If you have volunteered or worked with a school, youth club or youth sport, you may already have some of this information already, and it can be reused as long as its within the past year or two.

The requirements are:

1.  Complete Youth Protection Training - Please visit here: https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/  and complete the Youth Protection Training.  If you already have a Scoutbook account, you can use this to signup for training, otherwise you will need to create a My.Scouting profile for the training.  Once you've completed the training, print or save a copy of your training certificate as you will need it for registration.

2. Complete the Boy Scouts of America Adult Application - Visit here: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/524-501.pdf and complete pages three (3) and six (6) - be sure to sign where appropriate.  

3. Perform State Required Background Checks - Visit here: https://www.dhs.pa.gov/KeepKidsSafe/Clearances/Pages/default.aspx and complete:

   1. Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance

   2. Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance

   3. Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearance
      Note:  If you have lived in Pennsylvania for the past ten (10) years, DO NOT complete the FBI Criminal History Clearance - please use this FORM instead!

Once you've completed all of the training, bring the all of the following six (6) pages of information to the Treasury window:

1.) Your Youth Protection Training Certificate
2.) Page Three (3) of the BSA Adult Application - be sure that it is filled out completely (all areas above the black line) and signed.
3.) Page Six (6) of the BSA Adult Application - be sure that it is filled out completely and signed.
4.) The results page or letter from the PA Child Abuse History Clearance Site (should be presented at the end or e-mailed to you).
5.) The results page or letter from the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History site (should be presented at the end or e-mailed to you).
6.) Either a completed FBI Disclosure and Waiver form or the FBI Criminal History Clearance results page provided by the FBI.

At this time, Cub Pack 588 pays the $65.00 adult application fee for all active volunteers and leaders of the Pack.  

For adults who are solely completing the form to accompany their Scout to Summer Camp, we may ask for support on covering the cost of the adult registration.
